She holds a Master of Teaching degree in Teaching English to Speakers of Other Languages (MAT TESOL) from American University and has extensive experience across various educational settings, working with a broad spectrum of students. Over her decade of service at Wake County Public School System (WCPSS), she has taught at the elementary, middle, and high school levels as a K-12 English as a Second Language (ESL) teacher.

Before joining WCPSS, Elizabeth began her teaching career in North Philadelphia, where she gained valuable insights into the crucial role public education plays as a pathway out of poverty for many Americans. Throughout her career, she has been a staunch advocate for students from economically disadvantaged backgrounds. Her teaching experience includes adult basic education (ABE), General Education Diploma (GED) preparation, instruction for refugees with limited or interrupted schooling, and advanced English grammar and writing for newcomers.
